![three questions](http://blogs.thegospelcoalition.org/melissakruger/files/2015/10/three-questions1.jpg)I like to be asked thought-provoking questions. However, in our busy lives it is difficult to take time to still our minds and follow Paul’s simple instruction to Timothy, “Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching” ([1 Tim. 4:16](http://biblia.com/bible/esv/1%20Tim.%204.16)). Jesus also instructed his disciples, “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down” ([Luke 21:34](http://biblia.com/bible/esv/Luke%2021.34)). *Three Questions* is a series designed to put forth a few questions once a month. They can be used for personal reflection or perhaps as a way to spur on meaningful conversation in an accountability or small group.

**October’s Theme: Fighting Sin**

1. What’s the primary sin you’re struggling against on a daily basis?

1. In what ways are you actively fighting this sin? What steps can you take today to continue in the fight?

1. Have you confessed to someone else this sin pattern in your life? Why or why not?

**Verses for Further Consideration**

*Psalm 79:9*
 Help us, O God of our salvation,
 for the glory of your name;
 deliver us, and atone for our sins,
 for your name’s sake!

*Matthew 5:29-30* If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

*Acts 3:19-20* Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord

*1 Corinthians 6:18*-20 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

*Hebrews 3:13* But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

*Hebrews 12:1-4* Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

*1John 3:8-9* Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.

*James 5:16* Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

*Romans 6:23* For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
