um but it's really encouraging to say what are we about just rather than what are we against and so principles help us do that and I would say one of my big principles as a parent um is a little bit like what we hear on the airlines you have to put your own oxygen mask on first before you can put it on for the person beside you so if I am not growing in my faith and being continually nourished by the scriptures and by time with the Lord I'm really going to I'm not going to have what I need to parent um so I think one of my biggest principles is I need a parent as I parent and so God you know comes to us and he calls us his child we pray what the Lord's Prayer start our father he says I'm actually here for you to help you on this journey but one of my big principles is I can't do this well on my own um and that that that may seem really different than like the parenting principles that we're thinking of because we're often so child focused but God is the whole person focus and I as a parent am not just a parent I I'm a child of God and he is doing something in my life as I parent these kids so that's one of my big principles
